Coffee and Cake for Cancer Care

Coffee and Cake
As yet another email drops into our inbox from some do-gooding friend donning their lycra for a half marathon or tough mudder to raise money for charity, the guilt levels rise swiftly as we sit at our desks daydreaming about elevenses and chocolate cake

So imagine how delighted we were to have our attention drawn to the Macmillan Coffee Morning taking place on Friday 25th September from 10am to 12pm all across Great Britain – and there’s not a pair of trainers in sight! A chance to get together with friends for a delicious cuppa and a slice of something fancy while raising millions of pounds for charity? Yes please, count us in!

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event – last year a whopping £25 million was raised for the charity which provide medical, emotional, practical and financial support to those suffering from cancer, and their families. Figures now show that one in three of us will get cancer at some stage in our lives –  a chilling fact which means cancer is the toughest battle most of us will ever have to face. Macmillan’s aim is to make sure that no one faces that fight alone and the money raised on the 25th of September will go towards making that dream a reality.

There are thousands of coffee mornings  taking place across the country; just type your postcode into the online map, find one near you, grab a friend or two and go along for coffee, biscuits, and the icing on the cake – to raise money for this life-changing charity. Alternatively, why not host a coffee morning yourself? There’s plenty of information on the website and it’s as easy as – organise, invite, enjoy!
