Experience a quirky cinema concept, when The Village Screen pop-up cinema returns to Castleton’s Peak Cavern this August, showing The Goonies and The Lost Boys.
The Goonies will be screened on Thursday 9th August. An adventure comedy following a group of children nicknamed ‘The Goonies’ who set out to find ancient pirate treasure in attempt to stop developers from turning their neighbourhood into a country club. Along the way they discover booby traps, a gang of baddies and a frightening, yet friendly, monster. It’s sure to evoke feelings of nostalgia.
On Friday 10th August, see 80’s vampire thriller, The Lost Boys. Following two teenage brothers as they move to a small town in North California, and discover a peculiar gang of bikers and mysterious deaths. The brothers embark down different paths, one sucked into the teenage vampire world and the other joining a group of vampire hunters. This film successfully ties horror with comedy and will be made all the more spooky in it’s cave setting.
Both screenings will take place inside the Peak Cavern, situated in the idyllic town of Castleton. This awe-inspiring cave is one of four show caves in the UK and what better way to experience it than snuggling down to watch entertaining 80’s adventure films.
Ahead of the screenings enjoy food from local street food traders, including Proove Pizza and Get Wurst, music from live bands performing acoustic covers before each screening, and grab a refreshment from The Village Screen bar, where there will be cocktails, wine, prosecco, beers by Thornbridge Brewery, soft drinks and popcorn served.
We’ve bagged a pair of tickets to give away so one lucky reader can enjoy a memorable experience with their nearest and dearest, or simply catch a classic film in a truly remarkable location.
