Head Chef at Blackfriars Restaurant, Banquet Hall and Cookery School. winner of the ‘Taste of England’ title in the North East England Tourism Awards. Chris has worked for Blackfriars for nine years after gaining experience from a number of high profile restaurants in the North East. Chris loves simple cooking using good quality seasonal ingredients and is a big fan of medieval cuisine. He is also passionate about molecular cuisine, experimenting with modern styles of cooking which take advantage of technical innovations from scientific disciplines.

Dobson and Parnell
Chef Patron, Dobson & Parnell. Troy moved to the North East in 2005 to work as Head Chef at Dobson & Parnell’s sister restaurant Blackfriars, then at Jesmond Dene House, where he held three AA Rosettes. Troy spends a lot of time researching ideas and draws inspiration from classic and modern cooking methods.
Stephanie Moon Chef Consultant Rudding Park. Steph cooks up a three course meal using some seasonal local produce. Steph is a regular to our stage and she brings some tasty treats to try as well as offering you some new hints and tips on cooking up a three course meal.

Jesmond Dene House
Masterchef the Professionals contestant, regional finalist in 2018’s Great British Menu and former Head Chef at Newcastle’s Michelin-starred restaurant, House of Tides, Danny Parker is now Head Chef at the renowned Jesmond Dene House. Determined to always put his diners first, Danny offers an exceptional dining experience, whilst putting his own innovative spin on the menu.
Old Boat House
Martin Charlton is renowned for his culinary repertoire across the North East. From fresh North Sea seafood, to authentic Italian dishes, Martin covers plenty of bases with his popular restaurants. As founder of the award-winning Old Boat House Food Group, he is also owner and director of the Old Boat House Amble, La Famiglia, and The Fish Shack, all based in Amble, as well as the Blyth Boat House. At each of his eateries, the regularly returning diners and exceptional cookery, speak for themselves.
The Feather's Inn
At the helm of The Feathers Inn is Rhian Cradock, a multi-award winning chef and tutor at the Feather’s Cookery School. The inn’s most recent accolades include The Good Pub Guide’s County Dining Pub of the Year 2019 and The Good Food Guide’s Best Local Restaurant in the North East 2019. Native to the North East, Rhian has an infectious passion for creating quality dishes and having worked with some of the country’s top Michelin-starred chefs during his career, he has the insight to inspire you in the kitchen.
Swinton Estates Cookery School
Marc Williams Heads up Swinton Estates Cookery School’s. Previously Head Chef at the two AA Rosette General Tarleton restaurant, where he received a Michelin Bib Gourmand award, Knaresborough-based Williams brings over 10 years of cookery experience to the role. Having originally trained in the culinary arts at Newcastle College. Williams was latterly a chef consultant for one of the country’s finest famers and butchers.
The Grand Hotel, Tynemouth
After finishing in the quarter finals of Master Chef in 2016, Matei Baran has worked in a number of fine establishments in the North East, and also made headlines with his charity cookbook Big Chef Mini Chef, which he wrote to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust to honour his son Armin who suffers from the disease.
Restuarant Hjem, Hexham
Alex Nietosvuori started his culinary career not far from his home in Sweden. Working in the two Michelin-starred restaurant, Daniel Berlin Krog, he learnt how to forage for ingredients and adopted a nose-to-tail approach to minimal-waste cooking. After working in some of the finest Swedish restaurants, Alex moved to Oslo to continue his career at three Michelin-starred restaurant, Maaemo. Now opening an exciting new restaurant in Hexham with his Northumberland-born partner, Ally Thompson, Alex is bringing his Scandinavian flair and exceptional culinary skills to the North East.
