Living North have rounded up their top four spots to snuggle up with a hot chocolate this winter

The best hot chocolate for the winter season...

Proven Goods
Hoults Yard
Walker Road
NE6 2HL

If you’re looking for a hot chocolate with a difference, stop by Proven Goods, in the quirky hub of Byker’s Hoults Yard where they serve up freshly baked doughnuts, and a pretty good hot chocolate too. Forget whipped cream, here their Hot Chocolate Fluff is served with nothing other than a gigantic toasted dollop of home made marshmallow fluff and chocolate shavings.

Flat White Kitchen
40 Saddler Street
Durham
DH1 3NU

A cornerstone to Durhams culinary scene, Flat White Kitchen are best known for – you guessed it – their flat whites. But, if you dare to veer from the obvious then make sure you do so with their legendary white hot chocolate – you won’t regret it.

La Bottega Milanese
The Light, The Headrow, Leeds LS1 8TL
2 Bond Street, Leeds LS1 2JZ

This quirky, urban cafe has two outposts in Leed’s City Centre. While they may be experts in creating the perfect coffee, their hot chocolates are definitely worth the trip. You won’t find them topped with lashings of whipped cream and marshmallows, instead simple, silky and smooth – the Italian way.

Marmadukes
22 Norfolk Row
Sheffield
S1 2PA

This cosy, industrial-style deli cafe home bakes the most glorious of cakes, and of course the richest of hot chocolates. But, if you’re looking for an afternoon pick me up then we’d recommend their Lumumba – aged rum with 58 percent hot chocolate, it’s sure to warm you right up.
