PALATE FRESHENER

We’ve got two restaurants that will dispel any notion you might have about clean-eating being boring, as well as a new venture from the owner of an old Newcastle favourite

If you like: Delicious clean-eating

Then try: Clean Bean, Seaham

Paul and Linda Barron launched their healthy-eating restaurant after being inspired by their globetrotting adventures. Indonesia, Tasmania, and Nepal are just a few of the places that have inspired their new venture, after they were blown away by the choices for healthy-eating. If you think clean-eating is boring, think again.

If you like: Locally-sourced brunch

Then try: Grön Kafé, Leeds

The guys at Grön are huge believers in breakfast, and they’re all about bringing you the best dishes made with proper ingredients. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten- and dairy-free diners will be well looked after here – try a latte made with oat or coconut milk, gluten-free pancakes topped with caramelised figs, or a huge green smoothie made with organic greens to set you up for the day.

If you like: Tapas and wine

Then try: St Vincent, Newcastle

Café by day, wine-bar by night, St Vincent’s should be your new go-to destination for informal, tapas-style dining with fine wine. From much-loved former Caffe Vivo owner Terry Laybourne comes St Vincent’s, offering a stunning selection of wines to complement your meal, 80% of which will not be available anywhere else in Newcastle, as well as cloudy prosecco – we’re dying to try it.
