If you like: Trying somewhere new
Then try: Karma Kitchen Cafe, Newcastle
After impressing locals with their delicious vegan takeaway offerings, Karma Kitchen have opened their first cafe in the heart of Newcastle. Expect Indian dishes that are totally vegan-friendly, without compromising on flavour. They’ve not been open long, but they’ve already built up an impressive fan-base. Their cakes aren’t to be missed either – proving that you don’t need butter and eggs to bake mouthwatering treats.
If you like: Coffee, cake and a catch-up
Then try: Fettle Cafe, Leeds
You can’t beat a good cuppa and a sweet treat, particularly when the weather’s turned wintry. So make tracks to Scandi-inspired Fettle Cafe – if you’re after something more substantial, try their brunch, the Fettle mixed beans on sourdough toast (with poached eggs and chorizo) is too good to miss.
If you like: Pizza and a pint
Then try: Craft & Dough, Sheffield
They’re serving up craft beer and artisan pizza here at Craft & Dough, where the decor is modern, the vibe is laidback and welcoming, and the food is delicious. We love the sound of the Piggy Smalls pizza, a meat-lover’s paradise with pulled pork and smoked streaky bacon. And to drink, you really can’t go wrong with one of the carefully selected ales on offer, but we’re loving the intriguingly-named Magic Rock High Wire Grapefruit pale ale.
