Newcastle Gateshead
If you haven’t heard of The Late Shows you’ve probably been living under a rock. Here are a few of our highlights from the cultural crawl happening across Newcastle and Gateshead this weekend

Toffee Factory Records
Friday and Saturday, 7–11pm
If you like vinyl, you’ll love this event by Toffee Factory residents Mulitminded. There’ll be DJs, plenty of burgers and hot boozy drinks, plus the chance to get your dancing shoes on.
Lower Steenbergs Yard, Quayside, Newcastle NE1 2DF

Tyne Bank Brewery
Saturday, 7pm until late
We’re giddy with excitement about a large-scale interactive drawing activity taking place here. Think colouring pencils dangling from string above a 20-metre long piece of paper upon which you can let the creative juices flow (the local brews help).
375 Walker Road, Newcastle NE6 2AB

36 Lime Street
Friday and Saturday, 7–11pm
Come along and see the resident artists doing what they do best as they open up their studios. Don’t miss Steve Luck’s piano performances in total darkness on the hour – it sounds magical.
26 Lime Street, Newcastle NE1 2PQ

The Biscuit Factory
Friday and Saturday, 7–11pm
Like to have your say? You’ll be able to check out the region’s emerging talent and then vote for your favourite in the running for the second open contemporary award. Be sure to try the South American-style street food in the café afterwards.
Stoddart Street, Newcastle NE2 1AN

The Cathedral Church of St Nicholas
Saturday, 7–11pm
If you’re looking to escape the toon’s Saturday night Collingwood Street rowdiness, head over to the nearby sanctuary of St Nicholas where performance artist Stu Herring will create a meditative atmosphere using a Tibetan-style spiritual horn.
St Nicholas Square, Newcastle NE1 1PF

Cobalt Studios
Friday and Saturday, 7pm until late
Join the silent disco Dance in Peace and boogie all night in your own world. There’s a midnight feast to keep you fuelled and an abundance of peace keepers to keep everyone in good spirits – don’t miss it.
10–16 Boyd Street, Newcastle NE2 1AP
