The smell of bonfire will soon be in the air, so we’ve rounded up the best fireworks displays around the North East and Yorkshire

Hexham Bonfire
3rd November, 6pm

Always held on the Saturday closest to Bonfire Night, this fireworks display is guaranteed to be a feast for the eyes, since it draws around 12,000 spectators every year. This event allows Hexham Round Table to make donations to local charities and organisations, so you can enjoy the fireworks and do a good deed at the same time.

Dunnington Bonfire, Fireworks & Live Music
3rd November, 5pm

Dunnington’s annual event is set to be as spectacular as ever, with fire artists, food stalls, and live music after the fireworks. There will be a five-minute quiet display for those not keen on loud noises at 5.30pm, before the main display at 6.30pm, followed by a live music set.

Carlisle Fireshow
3rd November, 6.45pm

Back for its 31st year, the hugely popular Carlisle Fireshow is one of the top 10 fireworks displays in the country, attracting over 35,000 spectators every year. Forget scarves and hats, you’ll be toasty from dancing, as their whole display is set to music (although do wrap up warm, because it’s still the north in November!)

North Sheffield Bonfire & Fireworks
3rd November, 5.30pm

After the popularity of the event last year, North Sheffield Bonfire & Fireworks is returning to Hesley Wood Scout Activity Centre for a family-friendly evening of entertainment. As well as fireworks and a crackling bonfire, there’ll also be children’s fairground rides and hot food and cake stalls – all you need for a cosy, fun-filled night.

Newcastle Racecourse Fireworks and Funfair Family Race Night
3rd November, 8pm

Make a day of Bonfire Night with the Newcastle Racecourse Fireworks and Funfair Family Race-Night. With races through the daytime, funfair rides, and Justin and Kelly from Heart Breakfast, you’re sure to be entertained. The fireworks display will start at approximately 8pm and is set to be spectacular.

Bonfire Night at Bolton Abbey
3rd November, 4pm

What could be better than cosying up in your warmest jumper and watching a firework display in the shadow of the Priory Ruins? Set on the banks of the River Wharfe, Bolton Abbey’s Bonfire Night starts at 4pm when you can be entertained by fire-eaters and fairground rides, before the fireworks display starts at 7pm.

Bonfire Night at Beamish Hall
4th & 5th November, 5pm

Beamish Hall is already a great place to visit – add in a huge bonfire and musical fireworks display and you’ve got the perfect November evening. This event is so big, they’ve added a second date, so come along for a magical night filled with dancers, fire-breathers, bands, carnival rides, and a plethora of delicious food and drink stands.

Selby Bonfire and Firework Event
3rd November, 6pm 

Selby Community Centre is putting on not just one but two spectacular rounds of fireworks, the first at 7pm and the second at 7.30pm. The bonfire will be lit at 6pm and there will be fairground rides and Minster FM onsite providing entertainment throughout the evening.

Saltwell Park Fireworks
3rd November, 5pm

A star-spangled collaboration between intu Metrocentre and Metro Radio means that Saltwell Park’s show is sure to be spectacular. As well as an impressive fireworks display, there’ll also be children’s fairground rides and live music from some of the North East’s best emerging talent.

Wrap up warm for the fantastic firework display at Roundhay Park, Leeds. It is (once again) set to be the biggest bonfire in Leeds – with tens of thousands of people expected to arrive to enjoy the show.

Alnwick’s Round Table event promises to be Northumberland’s biggest and best traditional fireworks display. There’ll be plenty of hot food stalls and a funfair to entertain kids and adults alike.

Musical Fireworks Display Spectacular, Driffield
27th October, 5.30pm
