Make My Week...

It’s not just all about the football this week, we’ve got a three-day agriculture extravaganza, solo piano sessions, the best tribute band in the business and a Cuban carnival experience to get you in the mood for some fun

King No One frontman and indie rocker Zach Lount will be quietening things down somewhat in his intimate solo piano sessions at York’s Basement on Monday night – part of a mini-tour of smaller venues from the highly-versatile singer that promises to sell out fast.

We don’t want to put you Under Pressure or anything, but as winners of the National Tribute Awards, Mercury have firmly established themselves as one of the world’s most authentic tributes to Queen – and they’re playing at the Sunderland Empire on Tuesday. With a show that includes incredibly authentic performances of all the legendary band’s timeless hits, you’ll definitely want this show to go on… and on.

If football’s not your thing then why not spend your Wednesday enjoying the iconic Great Yorkshire Show – a three-day event, bringing the best of agriculture to Yorkshire. It’s a day of competing and socialising, and a celebration the best of food, farming and rural life. Better yet, we’ll be at stand 287 with the latest Living North Yorkshire issue on sale – come and say hello!
It’s almost the weekend! So it’s time to have some fun at Revolución de Cuba – this new joint is bringing some serious Latin vibes to Newcastle, tuck into tacos in the Cantina or make the most of sunshine, mojito in hand in the outdoor patio complete with its own garden bar. There’s live Latin music fiestas, and a dark and sultry club reminiscent of Havana’s retro bars that blossomed during the Prohibition era of the 1940s and 50s for after dark.
