Artisan Bakery

Having moved back to the site of the original bakery, Robert W Bell’s Artisan Bakery brings Gallic flair to Whitley Bay, with a range of fabulous artisan bread, pastries and sweet treats. They also offer a wealth of European and British cheeses and a well-stocked charcuterie.

Bread and Roses

They’re specialists in rye sourdough breads here; pick up specialist loaves like a Borodinsky or black pumpernickel as well as more populist breads. Ciao Ciao Mediterranean Bakery and Deli

A firm favourite amongst Durham’s food aficionados, Ciao Ciao does a range of delicious light lunches, pizza, pasta and Greek specialities. The Great Northumberland Bread Company

The artisan breads, sourdoughs, brioche and other treats supplied by The Great Northumberland Bread Company are baked in their unique wood-fired oven, which is fuelled with wood from the Ford and Etal Estate. And the result is simply delicious. They also run baking courses on an ad hoc basis.

Urban Bakery

This funky little café has a garnered an enviable reputation for its delicious soups, salads and sandwiches.
