If you consider yourself the next biggest fashion designer and want to help an amazing charity, the British Heart Foundation’s latest campaign is for you. The Big Stitch launches on 1st July and encourages shoppers to pop into their local BHF shop, buy an item, and upcycle it using their creativity and own personal stamp.
BHF shops are full of amazing finds that can easily be adapted using basic sewing skills, tasselling, graffiti, stencilling or adding decorative items. Showcase your fashion flair, and you could be in with a chance of winning a breakaway at a top European fashion destination.
All you need to do to get involved is upload the ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos of your item by tagging the BHF on Twitter, Instagram or their Facebook page, including the hashtag #TheBigStitch. All tagged posts will be uploaded to the BHF’s live online photo wall and entered into the competition with three fantastic prizes up for grabs: return flights to Paris or Milan, a Janone 2200XT sewing machine from Sew Essential, or a £50 voucher towards a dressmaking class with Sew Over It.
While the competition will run from 1st–15th July, you can get started now – just pop into a BHF shop and start browsing for an item you think you can transform into a truly unique piece.
