From 8 April
Jorvik Viking Centre
Take a day trip to historic York and head to one of the city’s best attractions, newly re-opened and updated in time for the Easter holidays. This place will enthrall your little historians – they’ll love the chance to get hands-on with the latest archaeological technology and discover more about the city’s heritage.
The mischievous Easter Bunny has been laying clues all over the place at Sage Gateshead and those who make it to the end of the trail will be in for a sweet surprise.
EGGSPERT EGG DECORATING WORKSHOPS
The Green Bee Creatives are hosting a most eggsellent (sorry) workshop using natural dyes and a range of techniques to help little artists decorate their eggs.
This fortnightly play session for under-fives gives your little inquisitive ones the chance to play, sing, make stuff and have a lot of fun while they’re doing it.
FAMILY FUN DAY
You’re invited to celebrate Easter at this luxury hotel. Events will include a Punch and Judy Show, a petting zoo and an arts and crafts room. There’ll also be food stalls set up so you don’t need to worry about packing lunch.
GIANT DUCK HUNT
WWT Washington Wetland Centre
Silly old Dusty Duck has lost his giant yellow ducks, and he can’t find them on his own. See if your little detectives can track them down for the chance of winning a chocolatey prize.
NEWBIGGIN KITE FESTIVAL
Newbiggin Maritime Centre
This annual event returns for a seventh time, and will feature spectacular flying displays, kite-making workshops, children’s rides and face painting.
PETER RABBIT MINI EGG HUNT
The World of Beatrix Potter
Take a trip over to Bowness-on-Windermere in the Lake District and let the kids explore the Peter Rabbit garden at this wonderful attraction. Don’t miss the treasure hunt – there’s a chocolate egg and a sticker up for grabs for each child.
