Paul Kitching’s 21212 is a unique Michelin-starred restaurant with rooms, located just a 10-minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley. Tucked between the Royal Terrace Gardens and Regent Gardens, it’s surprisingly tranquil for such a central location. Oh, and you also have the whole of Edinburgh at your fingertips, just as a bonus.
21212 provides four spacious bedrooms, each with a dedicated lounge area and ensuite bathroom, all decorated with cool, modern tones and flashes of baroque-style.
Food & Drink
The obvious point here is the Michelin-starred dining and the impressive menu which changes every week. Paul Kitching is an inventive chef, who is constantly pushing himself to create new ways of experiencing and enjoying food.
What to Do
Well, you’ve got the entire city of Edinburgh on your doorstep to explore. For art lovers the Scottish National Gallery and Scottish National Portrait Gallery are within walking distance. Multiple museums, Edinburgh Castle and Palace of Holyroodhouse are perfect for those who want to learn more about the history of the city. For a fun day out, try the Camera Obscura and World of Illusions; a building full of optical illusions which will both confuse and delight you.
The limited number of rooms which provides a sense of exclusivity and privacy in this bustling, vibrant city.
We Don’t Like
There’s not much to dislike here, but, due to the number of rooms, you might have to book quite far in advance if you’re wanting to visit in peak season, especially if you’re wanting more than one room for family and friends.
The private dining rooms. ATE is the larger, with space for up to 10 guests, and Pod (a semi-private area) has space for up to six. Both offer the ultimate dining experience.
