For the past four years, Ilkley Jazz Festival has grown steadily, and promises to be even bigger than ever before. Headlining this year is Ian Shaw – one of the world’s finest jazz singers, who has drawn comparisons with Kurt Elling and Mark Murphy.

Middleton Lodge has become home to the big screen for Yorkshire’s most breathtaking open-air cinema. Plenty of modern classics, including La La Land and Napoleon Dynamite will be projected onto the screen. This week, it’s the turn of The Life Aquatic, a classic Wes Anderson film.

THE RISE AND FALL OF LITTLE VOICE
Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough
Jane Horrocks and Alison Steadman starred in the first production of this iconic play about a woman with a highly adaptable voice, staged back in 1992. It’s now being revived in Scarborough, the first overseen by the SJT’s Artistic Leader Paul Robinson since taking his post.

Saltbox Gallery, Helmsley
Whimsical handcrafted designs in silver are Nick Hubbard’s speciality, and more than 50 items of his exquisite jewellery are on display at this gorgeous fine art and craft gallery, found just off Helmsley Market Square.

The Hepworth, Wakefield
Recently departed from this world but not forgotten thanks to his incredible deftness with the brush, Howard Hodgkin was utterly inspired by India throughout his long life. This exhibition shows just how inspired Howard was, with more than 35 works on display.
