Chef demos at the Living North Christmas Fair

Living North has a new venue for their North East Christmas Fair, Newcastle's Kingston Park Stadium. Join us for a fabulous and fun day out with gifts galore, delicious food and unique accessories you won’t find anywhere else. See some of the region’s top chefs cook up a storm in our demonstration kitchen.

Troy Terrington of Dobson & Parnell

Troy moved to the North East in 2005 to work as Head Chef at Dobson & Parnell’s sister restaurant Blackfriars, then at Jesmond Dene House, where he held three AA Rosettes. Now Head Chef at Dobson & Parnell, which was recently included in the Michelin Guide, Troy spends a lot of time researching new ideas and draws inspiration from classic and modern cooking methods. 


Martin Charlton of The Old Boathouse

Martin Charlton’s reputation precedes him: lifetime chef and founder of the award-winning Old Boat House Food Group, he is also owner and director of The Old Boat House Amble, Blyth Boat House, Amble Italian eatery La Famiglia, and last but not least The Fish Shack in Amble.


Greg Lambert of SIX

Executive Chef Greg Lambert leads the dedicated kitchen team at Six, developing and designing seasonal menus at the award-winning restaurant which can be found on top of international art gallery, BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art.


Dan Lansley of Beaumont Hotel

As a chef’s son, it seemed only natural that Dan Lansley would follow in his father’s footsteps. With over 10 years’ experience in highly reputable hotels, Dan made the decision to move to Hexham to further his passion for food at the Beaumont Hotel. Dan loves being creative and using fresh, locally-sourced produce, making the most of the surrounding area.

Chris Wardale of Blackfriars

Chris is the Head Chef at Blackfriars Restaurant and Banquet Hall in Newcastle, and winner of the ‘Taste of England’ title at the North East England Tourism Awards. Chris loves simple cooking and top-quality seasonal ingredients, but he’s also a fan of molecular cuisine, experimenting with modern styles of cooking.


Jonathan Dryden of Blacks Corner

Blacks Corner is a speciality delicatessen, concept eatery and wine bar that is redefining the British cheese and British charcuterie market. Owners Jonathan Dryden and Chris Lowden have come a long way since their humble beginnings in 2015, to become the largest retailer of British charcuterie in the UK, working with an ever-expanding list of British farmhouse cheese producers.


David Kennedy of Pleased To Meet You

Executive Head Chef David Kennedy will be showcasing some of his finest and most popular dishes from Pleased To Meet You. His modern British approach to cooking using classic French techniques satisfies even the most discerning of tastebuds.

Anthony O'Shaughnessy - Masterchef 2018 Contestant 

Anthony participated in series 14 of MasterChef, cooking his way to the final 10 with dishes inspired by his extensive travels and his beloved hometown. His ‘Teesside Chicken Parmo’ was a huge hit with the judges and subsequently became the top trending topic on Twitter. Since exiting the competition, Anthony is still travelling as much as possible to discover new foods and is determined to uncover little-known dishes and the flavourful secrets behind the classics.


Steven Murray of Walwick Hall

Head Chef Steven Murray is classically trained and has been garlanded with awards for his cooking, which blends quality ingredients from Walwick Hall’s unparalleled Northumbrian larder and fresh vegetables from their kitchen garden, using the latest international gastronomic techniques.


Jonny Bird of Sea & Soil Amble

Head Chef and Owner at Sea & Soil in Amble, Jonny has a passion for bringing food from the sea and land to the fork. Watch one of the North East’s finest foodie entrepreneurs at work.


Aaron Craig of Rockliffe Hall

Before joining Rockliffe Hall Aaron worked as Head Chef in a number of critically-acclaimed restaurants, including the three Michelin Star-awarded Fat Duck. He joined Rockliffe Hall in March 2014 and describes his food as tasty, clean and beautiful, using the best produce that the North of England has to offer.

David boasts a career in some of the most prestigious kitchens in the North East and London, reached the semi-finals of MasterChef: The Professionals, and is the proud owner of Darlington’s Restaurant Celebrus. He believes that ‘what grows together, goes together’, so loves pairing flavours that are found together in the wild.


Ross Keady of Fire & Dough

Fire & Dough have a passion for good, honest food and bring the taste of Naples to your door, as they tour around the UK in their restored vintage horse cart. They use traditional Italian ingredients to create a pizza that is baked in just 60 seconds in a 500C oven for that authentic taste.
