Claire O’Brien, trend manager at British Ceramic Tile adds, ‘The patchwork design schemes of old have experienced a modern day makeover and are set to be huge. We are becoming more adventurous and playful with our tiling combining colours, patterns, motifs, and different textures to create a range of different patchwork effects.’

‘Live for the moment and do it now is Dulux’s key trend for 2014,’ explains Dulux interior designer Elaine Cater.
‘It embraces the notion of taking action today rather than waiting around for projects to take shape. Imperfect design and dramatic patterns are key to pulling this look together, but remember – anything goes. The colour palette for this trend is lively and energetic with no rules. Go bold by clashing and contrasting, or combine and blend colours together to create an explosion of colour. To tone the look down, add pops of colour throughout your space. Be creative and try freehand paint effects around a doorframe to make a subtle statement.’
