Yorkshire is full of fantastic railway experiences. Here are a few of our favourites

NORTH YORKSHIRE MOORS RAILWAY

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway Trust is run by volunteers who work to preserve this historic stretch of track. A number of experiences are on offer including dining on the Pullman Dining Train while the stunning scenery of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park passes by the window, exploring stations themed around different eras and the chance to go behind-the-scenes on a tour of a locomotive shed.

ELSECAR RAILWAY

All aboard the Coalfield Lane, this South Yorkshire railway connects several coal mines from Elescar to Cortonwood. Book a footplate experience to experience both driving and firing a train, or book a ticket for one of the other experiences on offer including the wonderfully entertaining Buskers Train where you’ll be entertained with live music from The Legal Street Performers.

KEIGHLEY & WORTH VALLEY RAILWAY

There’s a huge amount going on along this popular West Yorkshire railway line. Jump aboard the Flying Scotsman, enjoy afternoon tea in a luxurious Pullman Car or simply enjoy a trip on the train – there’s something to suit every budget and level of train enthusiast.

EMBSAY & BOLTON ABBEY

A steam railway running between Embsay and Bolton Abbey with a variety of experiences on offer. Meet children’s TV favourites such as the characters from Peppa Pig and Paw Patrol, enjoy a cream tea while on board or take a ride on the railway’s special vintage train.
