Our pick of the best cheeses, chutneys and wines to fill your cheese boards with – and toast to the festive season

Chutneys and pickles are essential components to any cheese board and Blueberry Hill Preserves do them extremely well. You’ll find their Great Taste Award-winning range at the Fair including Yorkshire ploughman’s pickle, tomato and sweet chilli chutney or mango and ginger chutney.

They take great care in maturing their ranges of artisan, Lymn Bank barrel and nibble nose cheeses – some of which take up to two years to develop. Not only do they do a range of cheeses but they also do crumbly oatcakes and homemade chutneys so it’s the perfect place to stock up on everything you need.

They have chutneys and pickles on offer, but it’s their sweet onion marmalade that gets our tastebuds tingling. It’s perfect when paired with goat's cheese, warm brie with chorizo sausage, pâtés and terrines. If you agree that sweet and savoury are a match made in heaven then pick up a pot at our Fair, to dollop onto your cheese board to complement the lighter cheeses.

Weardale Cheese based in the old Harperley POW Camp in beautiful Weardale make a range of artisan cheeses including Weardale White, Bonny Moor Hen smoked, St Cuthbert Blue, Brie de Weardale, Prince Bishop Blue and Weardale Nettle – everything you need for festive feasting.

They’ve crafted some brilliant versions on quintessential English classic condiments, including piccalilli, red onion and mango chutneys, together with a fiery chilli jam, and two outstanding pairings with beetroot and horseradish relish and curried courgette relish. Grab a jar at our Fair and if there are any left overs after you’ve devoured them with cheese, they double up nicely for an Indian-inspired feast with popadoms, too.

You take care of perfectly presenting your cheese board, layering grapes, dolloping chutneys, arranging crackers and placing cheeses. Let Pieroth Wine take care of the wine pairings. Chat to these guys at the Fair where you can plan an informative wine tasting with them from the comfort of your own home.

You’ll find every cheese you need for a cracking cheese platter here. They’ve got mature cheddars including caramlised onion and Rioja, jalapeño and lime, Irish whisky and stem ginger, sticky toffee and a charcoal flavours. There’s also an award-winning Tuxford and Tebbutt stilton – and it’s recipe has stayed exactly the same since 1780.

If wines from New Zealand are your bag, then there’s no better duo to talk to than Katie and Dave who run Black Dog Wine Agency. They’ll help you find the perfect bottle to match your board. From a rich Pinot Noir to an organic Syrah or fruity Sauvignon.

Kick-Ass Cheese is the creation of husband and wife partnership Tim and Sue Procter. They’ll be bringing their cheeses (all with a kick) to the Fair. Expect to load up on flavours including Rioja, fiery Jack, smoked cheddar, crunchy pickled onion and the kick-ass bomb – a flavour-packed, bomb-shaped cheese coated in black wax – prepare to be blown away.
