Picnic
As it's Father's Day on Sunday we've compiled a list of fun family things to do. From food markets to retro festivals, there's something for everyone

1. Visit The Alnmouth Arts Festival on 18 Saturday or 19 Sunday from 10am–5pm. This free family festival features local artists, live music, children's activities, story-telling, and much more.

2. The world’s biggest travelling fun fair returns to Newcastle’s Town Moor on Friday. There’s more than 300 rides and attractions to enjoy at The Hoppings.

3. Let’s Rock in Leeds takes place on Saturday. Don’t miss this retro-fuelled festival headlined by award-winning singer songwriter Billy Ocean.

4. See David Walliam’s best-loved children’s story Ratburger brought to life in the grounds of Preston Park Museum, Teesside.

5. Pack a picnic and head to you favourite park to mark the end of National Picnic Week on Sunday.

6. Venture to Jesmond Dene Arts Market on Saturday, from 10am til 3.30pm, for a spot of shopping and try out the offerings at the new food market on Armstrong Bridge from 10am til 3pm, which is just a few minutes walk away.

7. Put on your dancing shoes and join in on a record-breaking dance event at the Yorkshire Festival. Rumour has it there’ll be 20,000 people dancing under a giant 10m disco ball.

8. Watch a movie. There’s lots of family-friendly films out at the minute, Alice Through the Looking Glass is our tip.

9. Ride the Land Trains along Bridlington's promenades and enjoy the stunning coastal views.

10. Spend some quality time with Dad on Sunday, it’s Father’s Day after all.
