Ampleforth Abbey are offering one lucky reader a mixed case of beers and ciders. Enjoy having six, 330ml bottles of their premium cider and six, 330ml bottles of beer, delivered to your door for your leisurely (or not so) enjoyment, along with two vouchers for Ampleforth Abbey Tea Room. Take your pick from homemade cakes and scones, ciabattas, or a delicious afternoon tea for yourself and a guest to enjoy.
Despite running on a very small scale, Ampleforth is home to the largest commercial orchard in the North of England. Sticking to traditional methods, they pick all 40 of their different varieties of apples by hand, before pressing them. They use only natural yeast to ferment the juice for at least eight months to produce a golden, medium dry cider. So, when you sit back to sip on a cold bottle, not only can you rest-assured knowing that you’re drinking a premium cider, but one that is largely hand produced too.
Their beers are the only traditionally English brewed Abbey beer. Described as a biscuity malt, featuring dark raisin and sultana fruit, with a largely creamy length, the rich beer boasts awards including, Britain’s Beer Champion, Great Taste Awards and Yorkshire’s Best Drink in 2012.
