Set in a beautiful converted church, Barluga is a unique and unforgettable bar located on Gosforth High Street. With its extensive wine list and superb cocktail selection, you will be spoilt for choice. But you must try as many as you can – here’s a tip: indulge in their two for £10 cocktails.

The Nuthatch
Located on the bustling Bedford Street, The Nuthatch delivers high-quality spirits individually-sourced from over 100 boutique suppliers and distillers worldwide. Their cocktail menu is meticulous for its detail, with their descriptive list of creative mixes, where you order by style or spirit. But if it’s a classic that’s more your taste, they make signature cocktails bespoke to you. They also have a vast gin collection, from floral to sweet, to locally-distilled.

Black Olive
Situated on the picturesque Hartlepool Marina, Black Olive brings together contemporary style and comfortable surroundings to create the perfect setting to sit with friends and sip expertly-mixed cocktails. Poison Cabinet
The swinging speakeasy, Poison Cabinet, is perhaps the Newcastle bar scene’s best-kept secret. Hidden under Pilgrim Street’s intermezzo, those in the know can enjoy late-night cocktails with a prohibition-era twist. With their unique concoctions and dark, intimate interior, it is certainly a quirky venue to guzzle a range of cocktail potions.

Tin Of Sardines Gin Bar
Claiming to be Durham’s smallest gin bar, this incredibly intimate space, has a selection of 200 gin brands and 50 mixers – but room to serve just 16 people. The size of the venue does not reflect quality of service, which is exceptional –  each drink is made to suit the taste of each individual customer.

Go quackers for The Duck House’s stunning array of cocktails – as well as its comprehensive gin collection, wine and spirit lists. While, their two for one cocktail deal on a Friday is a good way to relax at the end of a busy week.

Backyard Bike Shop At By The River Brew Co
By day, the Backyard Bike Shop specialises in custom builds, bike servicing and serving the finest coffee. But by night (only at the weekend), they morph into a buzzing cocktail bar with the best view of the Tyne river after dark and the glistening lights on the water.

Lola Jeans
You won’t find the classics on the menu here, Lola Jeans boast about their flair for the rare. All of their cocktails are designed and crafted by their talented mixologists, who are always spilling out new concoctions. With a menu inspired by 1920s prohibition drinking culture, they attempt to combine traditional flavours with contemporary tastes. Meanwhile, they take inspiration from the North East with their Five Shades of Grey and St. Mary’s Sundae.
