Fish and chips
Tuck into contemporary Thai food in Alnwick, indulge with homemade bakes in Sedgefield, and enjoy award-winning fish in Bradford

If you like: Thai food with a slight twist
Then try: Thai Vibe, Alnwick
This Thai and Asian-inspired restaurant serves delicious dishes, some of which are a twist on the authentic recipes. Thai Vibe offers a unique, relaxed experience for those wanting to try dishes like Tom Yam Goong –  a hot and sour broth with king prawns, tomato, shimeji mushrooms and lemongrass – or pan-fried monkfish cooked in tamarind sauce.

If you like: The creme de la creme of cakes
Then try: Number Four, Sedgefield
The cakes at this cute local café are among the best we’ve tried, especially the flat-out brilliant carrot cake, and their afternoon tea packs in quiche and sausage rolls as well as sandwiches, cakes and scones. Plus, there’s a little deli inside too.

If you like: Super-fresh fish and chips
Then try: Towngate Fisheries, Bradford
If you can squeeze your way in past the awards they’ve racked up here – they won the Healthy Eating Award at the 2015 and 2017 National Fish & Chip Awards, and are in the top 60 indie takeaways in the country this year, and one of Yorkshire’s top three – you’ll find top quality, super-fresh, delicious fish and chips.
