Whether you’re after classic occasion dining, gastro pub grub or clean eating with a twist, we’ve got you covered with a carefully curated assortment of eateries to try this week

If you like: Award-winning gastro-pub grub

Then try: The Blue Lion, East Witton

Three-time winners of the Dining Pub of the Year Award, the team at The Blue Lion certainly know how to cook up sensational seasonal and local fare, and the atmosphere isn’t bad either – think open log fires, traditional oak tables and chalk board menus. A carefully selected list of unique guest ales completes the popular pub setting.

If you like: Out-of-this-world occasion dining

Then try: L’Enclume, Cartmel

Whether you consider yourself a bonafide foodie or not, you’ll likely have already heard of L’Enclume, chef Simon Rogan’s multi-award winning restaurant. Boasting two Michelin stars and five AA Rosettes, this is the perfect restaurant for that very special occasion. Although the farm-to-fork philosophy here is simple, the ever-changing menu is anything but. Prepare to be equally surprised and delighted by the exceptional variety on offer, all exquisitely prepared by the expert kitchen. If you’re looking to impress that special someone, or celebrate one of life’s memorable moments this week, you’d be hard pushed to beat dining here.

If you like: Trying something totally new

Then try: Kimchi Planet, Newcastle upon Tyne

Whilst the location certainly isn’t fancy (they’re based in-between blocks of student accommodation in Shieldfield) the menu makes a trip to Kimchi Planet more than worth it. Korean street food is what they’re serving, and with much of it vegan-friendly, this is clean eating, but not as you know it. Everything is served with a helping of the pickled cabbage for which the restaurant is named, so you’ll be treating your tastebuds and nourishing your body at the same time.
