And if you’re after something to wash it all down with, you’re in luck – the cocktails taste as good as they look. Ours is a Santiago Swizzle, if you’re asking.
If you like: Indian street food that’s as authentic as it comes
Then try: Thali Tray, Ouseburn
A new opening in Newcastle’s ever-changing restaurant scene, Thali Tray is an award-winning eatery, serving up Indian street food on compartmented trays (hence the name). The menu features owner Josh Roberts’ favourite street dishes from across India, which he discovered during his culinary tour of the country. He’s also paired up with Newcastle Brewing Ltd, to offer diners the perfect pint to pair with their tray, so there’s really no excuse not to pop along and try them out for yourself.
If you like: Incredible tapas that are perfect for sharing (or not)
Then try: Ambiente, branches Yorkshirewide
Authentic tapas and a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere are what’s on offer here. Pick a range of small dishes from the menu for the table, tuck in and enjoy. Insider tip: don’t miss the ham and cheese croquettes – they’re so good, it’s worth ordering a plate just for yourself. The dishes are all Mediterranean-inspired and made with local Yorkshire produce wherever possible, a winning combination if you ask us.
