We catch up with the team to discover how the lockdown has impacted the business
'A digital and printed Lookbook is due to be released soon. We have other just as exciting things in the pipeline too. We’d like to keep the suspense a little longer though.'

How has the lockdown been for fire &co?
Lockdown as a business has been testing, we had a complete shock as many companies did. Being a smaller independent brand we had to really think on our feet and be as innovative as possible with our social platforms and website. On a personal level as a team we’ve really tried to check in with each other and keep each other’s spirits high with our social Zoom meetings once a week.

How have you personally spent your time?
As a team it seems we have all approached our free time differently. Our creative outlets have been brimming, and having this time has allowed us to explore that. One of our team members has reignited her love for cooking with a foodie Instagram and another has been drawing and making clay sculptures. Most of us have enjoyed the time exploring nature. The coastal waters have been so clear and we’ve got some great photography of nature blooming in and around Northumberland. Our Director, Skye, has worked on a lifestyle element to our company and our upcoming lookbook – he gets more work done at home as we always distract him.

Did you spend much time sprucing up your own interiors, or taking on any DIY projects?
It seems everyone has been busy with home improvements. One of our team moved houses and has been doing alot of DIY (whilst constantly telling us all about it and what things she wants from the showroom!). The rest of us have been enjoying our spaces. Just before lockdown one of the team had a new kitchen fitted and another started and completed a new living room design, so their spaces were ready to be lived in!

Has it given you a chance to develop any new ideas?
We’ve come up with a couple of new concepts and have also been finalising some of our own designs.

Any advice for those still spending time at home and thinking about tackling an interiors project?
No project needs to be rushed. Take your time and get a feel for the area you are starting or revamping. It’s a process that merits character and this comes with time. This is the perfect time however to get your interior goals.

How are you feeling about opening your doors again?
We are very excited to open to the public again, and of course sceptical of how it will change the trends in shopping as we know. As many of us know, lockdown meant a huge shift to online shopping. We have realised the importance of retailers like us, who bring an experience to shopping. We’ve had an influx of emails and messages with regards to opening too, so it's great to know our customers are just as excited as us!

What can we expect to see from fire & co over the next few months?
A digital and printed Lookbook is due to be released soon. We have other just as exciting things in the pipeline too. We’d like to keep the suspense a little longer though.

What about customers who are unable to visit the store?
We do take orders via telephone, however for many consumers, whilst in quarantine online has been a saving grace. Prior to lockdown we updated our website with over 1000 new products. Our online e-commerce store will continue to be updated every few weeks.

What do you predict will be your best seller when you do re-open on Saturday?
There is no way we could possibly predict one piece, as we offer such a multitude of products. We do think customers will take advantage of 20 percent off our big ticket items like sofas and dining.
