Can you tell us a bit about what you do?
Callerton Kitchens and Interiors first opened its doors back in 1981, some 34 years ago. During that time we have built a reputation for quality, innovative kitchen and interior solutions, putting us at the forefront for style, innovation and choice.
What’s special about what you do?
Our design team has over 75 years’ combined experience, and we take the time to understand client’s individual needs and requirements. We are not kitchen planners – simply putting boxes on walls – we are designers, blending together numerous products and materials to create stunning environments that tick all the client’s boxes. Our kitchens are built around a diverse selection of innovative design concepts ranging from the traditional classic to ultra contemporary. The client is able to enjoy the luxury of almost infinite choice in style.
Where do you source your products?
The design is in the detail. For this reason we are always searching for the latest product innovations to ensure we are at the cutting edge of this design-led industry. One of the latest additions we have made is the Bora induction hob that has a built in extraction system giving a completely unique cooking experience. We also have many successful partnerships with well-recognised brands in the industry. We are Neff Master Partners and a Consentino Elite Studio, and have successful working relationships with Miele, Corian, Fisher and Paykel and other big name brands.
What has been your favourite project to work on?
It sounds ‘cliche’ but we genuinely enjoy each and every Callerton project. Every interior presents a fresh set of challenges. From a very contemporary, clean, compact kitchen in a fifth floor apartment, an open plan farmhouse interior or a large renovation project by the beach, each one has its own challenges and rewards. We really do take great pride and pleasure in the end result of every one.
What’s the most challenging part of your work?
When handling complicated build projects often involving renovation, extension or new build work there are always new, exciting challenges thrown up. These challenges can appear in any form and are often never the same from project to project. This is part and parcel of what we do and is exciting as no two days are the same!
What are you currently working on?
Being in a design-led industry you have to be constantly evolving, reviewing everything you are doing. We have to be able to ensure we can offer people exactly what they are looking. For this reason we recently overhauled the upstairs of our showroom to ensure our range of contemporary furniture remains cutting edge. It includes many exciting new finishes including slat doors, a new pantry slide away door cabinet, electric auto-opening dresser cabinet and dynamic new island solution to name but a few. We have introduced the exciting, almost indestructible, new Xgloss Dekton worktop finish and Bora induction hob with integrated extraction. We have many more exciting innovations planned throughout the rest of the year and beyond. There is always something exciting going on!
How do you combine your handmade products with modern innovation?
We actually have a very wide and diverse product offering. We are able to provide everything from the locally hand-made, crafted kitchen to the ultra contemporary Germanic collection and all that is inbetween. We have something to suit all tastes. A snapshot of this can be seen in our 4,000sq ft showroom. People often visit the showroom and rule out displays as ‘not suitable for their space’ but like a certain element. This is exactly what the showroom process is about – picking elements from displays and discussing likes and dislikes with our team to enable them to produce something that is as individual as you are.
