When it comes to planning and design, sometimes we all need a little expert advice – but when do we ask, who do we go to, and (most importantly) what do we ask them? George Musson from Squires Barnett shares his tips…
Architects are highly-skilled and professionally trained to turn your aspirations into reality. They will guide you through the design, planning and construction process, whether you are constructing a new building or adapting an existing property.
Not all architects are created equal – to make the most of your home, you need a practice that specialises in domestic architecture and understands the way you and your family want to live. You’ll end up spending a lot of time with them, so it’s vital to commission an architect with whom you have a good rapport!
Sometimes it’s the unexpected that makes the best design solution. Clients often assume that they need an extension, and that may be the right solution, but we like to work holistically to ensure existing space works effectively before adding costly square-footage.
We apply impartial and creative thinking to projects large and small. Adding value, whether it’s maximising light and space, adding functionality, or achieving the best return on your investment. We would stress the importance of our early involvement – we can often locate plots or existing houses that will allow clients to realise their dream home.
