Don’t Miss Displays Of Military Vehicles And The Finest Military Bands In York On Saturday In Honour Of Armed Forces Day


York is proud of it’s military history it has been a garrison town since AD71 and will celebrate Armed Forces Day on Saturday by hosting family-friendly, free events and entertainment in Parliament Street and St Sampson’s Square from 11am to 4.30pm

There’ll be everything from paint balling, climbing and music from York Music Centres Bands, The Band of the York 4th Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment and local singing talent Libby Redman and her band, to displays of military vehicles, welfare organisations, field hospital and military charities.

More than 50 local businesses across York will be showing their support by offering discounts to serving and ex-service personnel on Armed Forces Day too. 

Residents are also welcome to attend the raising of the Armed Forces Flag on Monday 20 June at 11am, on the flagpole between West Offices and the Cenotaph on Station Rise. Links between the Armed Forces and the city will be further strengthened with the re-signing of the York Community Covenant Agreement that day.
