More award-winning Town Houses have arrived at the Smith’s Dock housing development in North Shields

As traditional new-build houses get smaller and the space desired by Newcastle families gets bigger, 24 award-winning Town Houses have arrived at Smith’s Dock – giving families spacious, three-storey homes on the Tyne.

Each property boasts 1,500 sq ft of space over three floors, but varying house types and layouts mean there’s a range of different designs on offer to suit each family’s needs. 

Available homes – which are ready for immediate occupation – include the ‘loft living’ option (where lounge and dining spaces dominate the upper floor, with bedrooms below) and ‘garden living’ (traditional layouts featuring living areas on the ground floor and up to four bedrooms above).

Explaining the Town House compositions available, each of which boasts views of the River Tyne, spacious gardens and parking, Smith’s Dock residential director Guy Ackernley said: ‘We’ve now completed the installation and development of a range of house types at Smith’s Dock, meaning that multiple living options are available to families who want space that suits them.  

‘Whether that’s penthouse-style “loft living”, or the more traditional approach of a kitchen and dining space to the rear of their home – opening up onto a private decking and green space for the kids – we have Town Houses immediately available in each form.’  

The Town Houses are located on the Plateau, an elevated area of Smith’s Dock – North Shields’ much-loved former shipyard and a focal point of the community. The whole site is undergoing a major regeneration programme which will also soon see the launch of 80 waterfront apartments known as Smokehouses, as well as the future development of green spaces, retail and leisure outlets.

And while the plans underway at Smith’s Dock itself will make for a great community, the wider location is perfect too. Some of North Tyneside’s best performing schools can be found just minutes away, including the OFSTED Outstanding Waterville Primary School which is just 0.2 miles away. A few minutes’ walk further and you’ll find St Cuthbert’s and Spring Gardens – both rated as OFSTED Good.  

There’s great connectivity, with the North Shields Metro stop just minutes away – not to mention the adjacent North Shields Ferry Terminal, and there’s a great road network back into the city too.
There’s also the proud, historic community in which these homes are located, with English Heritage’s Tynemouth Castle and the Old Lowlight Museum providing lots to do close by.
