This week it’s all about moon-gazing, star comedians, and striding into pantomime season – oh, no you won’t want to miss it

Take in our stunning night skies from the official Dark Sky Discovery Observatory Site at Battlesteads Observatory in Northumberland. No astronomy experience needed – all you need to bring along is a pair of binoculars and a thirst for knowledge. You’ll learn how to use specialised equipment to pick out key features, and you’ll also learn some pointers for viewing the moon through binoculars, as well as discovering hidden lunar gems, starting from 9pm.

Get in the spirit of Christmas with a Father Christmas experience at York Castle Museum. Take part in all sorts of festive fun, with gingerbread making and arts and crafts, as well as a visit to the Elf School – where Father Christmas himself will be waiting with a traditional gift and a bit of magical Christmas sparkle.

Newcastle Theatre Royal’s pantomime is now officially underway! Resident trio Danny Adams, Clive Webb and Chris Hayward return for 2018’s instalment in traditionally extravagant fashion for the pantomime-come-circus extravaganza, Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Packed full of hilarious comedy routines, dazzling special effects, and the most exciting circus acts in town, join the gang as they try to save their Big Top from disaster – it might just take three amazing bears to join the circus and save the day…

If the fact it’s nearly the weekend doesn’t cheer you up, award-winning comedian Jason Manford certainly will. Jason is stopping off in Leeds on his Muddle Class tour to deliver belly-full’s of laughs as he pokes fun at the clash of classes in today’s society.
