What To Do: Head to Ernest in Ouseburn to try something a little different with tango Tuesdays. Dust off your dancing shoes and whirl around with your chosen partner (or victim, depending on how good your dancing skills are). The beginners session starts at 7.30pm, so don’t worry if you’ve never tangoed before – then once you’ve got to grips with it, stay for the practice session until 10.30pm.
Where To Eat: For a hearty Sunday lunch, head to the Heart of Northumberland just off Hexham’s marketplace. They offer a huge range of cask ales, and host regular brewery showcases and ‘tap takeovers’ – beer-lover heaven. Whether you’re just after a light snack or a plateful of traditional pub grub, you’ll find it all on their extensive menu, carefully designed by Head Chef Jack Henriksen.
What To Do: It’s National Picnic Week, so pack your hamper, grab a blanket, and head to one of Yorkshire’s prettiest picnic spots for a day out. Malham Cove with its huge curved rock amphitheatre and Ravenscar with its far-reaching sea views are two of our favourite spots for sitting back and soaking up the scenery, before burning off the calories with a picturesque walk.
Where To Eat: Vegan food just got a whole lot more interesting, thanks to The Greenhouse at Horsforth. This plant-based café serves a wide ranging menu of sweet and savoury dishes, so you can catch up with friends over a coffee and slice of homemade cake, or if you need something more substantial, we love their ‘bowls’ – go for the Vitality bowl, packed with marinated tofu pieces, cucumber ribbons, avocado, mange tout, toasted coconut and sliced red chilli, drizzled with a ginger and white miso dressing.
