This boutique country hotel is as fresh as they come – its grand opening was in October this year. The Grade II listed Hall boasts a classically trained chef in its kitchen, unique character in each of its individually-designed rooms and Elemis treatments in its spa.
A choice of luxurious bedrooms and suites are available, all with stunning views of either the valley beyond or of the Hall’s own gardens, and all are equipped with vast king-size beds. Book into one of the suites for the extra-large marbled bathroom, a walk-in shower and even a fireplace.
Food & Drink
There are two dining areas here. The Dining Room serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, while guests can take afternoon tea in The Drawing Room. Head Chef Steven Murray marries traditional dishes with contemporary twists to create some truly delicious meals. The Bar boasts an impressive wine list, as well as whiskeys, gins and other tempting options.
What To Do
You won’t be short of things to do here. Take a stroll through the grounds – there are 100 acres of beautiful Northumbrian countryside to explore – or go fishing, hunting or shooting. For the more active pursuits on the list, organised trips and tuition sessions are available, no matter how advanced you are – or not, as the case may be. Slightly further afield, Northumberland National Park, the Kielder Observatory and Hadrian’s Wall are all superb attractions which make for excellent trips out.
The indulgent spa facilities and the range of Elemis treatments – exactly what we look for in a getaway destination.
We Don't Like
While children are welcome here, there isn’t too much specifically geared towards entertaining them.
The pool and the state-of-the-art gym. After all the delicious food you’ll be eating, the fine wine you’ll be drinking and the pampering you’ll be enjoying, you might feel the need to work up a bit of a sweat. If you do get the urge, a few lengths of the spa’s swimming pool or a work-out on the machines in the gym will sort you out.
