It sounds obvious but... start training! Try and exercise a few times a week and develop a healthy lifestyle – cut out the rubbish, drink plenty of water and eat plenty of vegetables. Getting into a positive routine now will make the next steps that much easier.
Six months to go
Think about how far you’ve come, and how far you have to go. This will allow you to make a realistic plan to reach your goal – you might need to tighten up your diet, increase your training or just hold steady. Keep in mind that a safe and sustainable rate of loss is just one or two pounds a week, so be realistic.
Three months to go
You don’t want to spend the final weeks before the wedding stressing about food and exercise (you’ll have enough to think about trying to sort out flowers, seating plans and your mother’s hat). This is the time to be sensible with what you plan to achieve, and try to get there a few weeks before the day itself.
One month to go
By now you should be looking and feeling great. Just continue with your good habits and don’t run yourself ragged with a sudden last minute attempt to lose a few extra pounds. Get lots of sleep, look after yourself and make sure you concentrate on enjoying your big day. Well done!
