UNTIL 11 SEPTEMBER – NOBLE PROSPECTS

This summer the Mercer Art Gallery will be paying tribute to the landscape gardener, Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown. Marking 300 years since his birth, the exhibition contains plans, drawings and documents produced by Brown whilst creating landscapes at Burton Constable, Harewood and Scampston.

You might not know it, but BBC journalist Tim Sayer is one of the most notable art collectors of our age. His collection, recently donated to The Hepworth, includes works by Henry Moore, Antony Gormley and David Hockney. See them in situ at the gallery.

UNTIL 2 OCTOBER – WARRIOR TREASURES

See over 100 items from the Staffordshire Hoard, the largest collection of Anglo-Saxon gold and silver metalwork ever found, anywhere in the world. Discovered in a field near Hammerwich in Staffordshire in 2009, the collection includes scabbard buttons, metal sword hilts and helmet cheek pieces, all dating from the 7th and 8th centuries.
