With forecasts looking good, we’ve picked out six of the best places to catch some waves this weekend

Tynemouth Surf Co
Established in 1995, Tynemouth Surf Co has been teaching the people of the North East how to stay on their surfboards as the waves roll over them. There’s lessons at the surf school, equipment hire and repair, and accessories on sale in the shop.

Northside Surf School
Make a start on your surfing career with lessons with these experts, who also do paddle-boarding lessons and teach on beaches along the coast including Warkworth Bay, Embleton Bay, Bamburgh and Seahouses.

South Shields Surf School
Channel your inner surfer dude as you tame the elements and ride the waves under the expert tuition of South Shields Surf School. You don’t have to know your board from your barrel – they cater for all levels of ability. They are an accredited Surfing England Surf School and all their instructors are qualified beach lifeguards and and have undergone DBS checks.

Flow Surf School 
Novice or intermediate, everyone’s welcome to come and learn on the beautiful coast at Saltburn. Scarborough Surf School 
Head to the stunning Cayton Bay where Scarborough Surf School has been providing second-to-none coaching for more than 10 years in arguably one of the best surfing spots on the Yorkshire coast.
