Where to Find the Best Festive Afternoon Teas

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and we’re celebrating with tea and cake

Walwick Hall
The suitably-indulgent afternoon tea offering at Hexham’s Walwick Hall is packed with festive sweet treats, home-made by the in-house pastry team, turkey and stuffing sandwiches and cranberry and white chocolate scones – all of which will be served in the traditional Drawing Room.

Great British Cupcakery
The Merry and Bright festive afternoon tea on offer until 24th December in this popular cupcakery, just a stone’s throw from the Newcastle Quayside, is taking the festivities very seriously. Our highlight? The cheesy pigs in blankets scone, of course.

Seaham Hall
Kick off Christmas in style. And by style we mean indulging in Seaham Hall’s unmissable festive-inspired afternoon tea, followed by a glass of champers in the Lounge. Go on, it’s Christmas.

Raby Castle
The Christmas afternoon tea at Raby Castle isn’t straying too far from the British tradition – think three tiers of seasonal delights including a selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones to be enjoyed by the roaring log fire in the castle’s grand hall.

The Grand York
Festive afternoon tea here begins with mulled wine on arrival, followed by carols sung by a local choir whilst you tuck into your honey roast Yorkshire ham sandwiches and homemade mince pies.

Grantley Hall
Grantley Hall are adding a festive twist to their hugely-popular afternoon teas in the run up to Christmas. Raise your teacups to their Signature Festive Afternoon Tea or go all out with their sparkling option, and enjoy a glass of Champagne or warm mulled wine too. Whichever you choose, you’ll depart with a Grantley Hall gift to complete your magical pre-Christmas experience.

Ah, Bettys – a true Yorkshire institution. Their afternoon teas are still the absolute benchmark as far as we’re concerned, and their festive offering is suitingly subtle. Expect an array of sweet and savoury treats, traditional surrounds and, as always, impeccable service.
