Yorkshire's Winter Wonderland
We’ve rounded up some of the best places in the North East and Yorkshire to slip on your skates and get rocking around the rink

Beamish Musuem

16 November – 5 January

Alongside their ‘Christmas at Beamish’ event is the ever-popular ice rink, decorated in a traditional Edwardian style with festoon lighting, and ideal for novice and professional skaters alike.

Centre for Life Ice Rink

9 November – 23 February

One of the most popular attractions in Newcastle’s thriving city centre throughout Christmas and into the New Year is the ice rink outside the Centre for Life. There are different sessions available, including nursery sessions at quiter times for skating novices and exclusive hire available for groups and parties – booking online also means you can enjoy a warm drink or glass of fizz with your skating experience.

Lotherton Hall

22 November – 5 January

New for 2019, Lotherton is opening up its very own open-air ice rink during their Christmas Experience event. The rink is a whopping 596 square metres and welcomes every age and ability, so whether you skate like a star or simply scramble around, there’s enough space for everybody. Of course when you’re finished on the rink, Lotherton Hall has plenty other activities to enjoy over the festive period.

Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland

16 November – 5 January

The Ice Factor, the North of England’s largest and best-loved outdoor ice rink, returns this year with its giant 30-foot Christmas tree at the centre of the rink and illuminated forest, log cabins and café surrounding the outside. We recommend visiting at night to make the most of the rink lit up by twinkling Christmas lights, and don’t forget to make the most of the funfair and festive stalls when you’re not skating or slipping your way around the rink.
