Dakwala

This charming restaurant is a love letter to the canteen-style dining of Bombay and each dish is an explosion of colour and flavour. Until 4pm, tuck into three small plates and a side for £15. For a more substantial meal, enjoy a three-course meal for £20 (available until 10.30pm).

The Green Room

New for this year, Newcastle Theatre Royal’s The Green Room has been a welcome addition for theatre-goers and causal diners alike. This sleek dining space is tucked down the side of the theatre, and diners can indulge in anything from seared sea bass with chorizo and kale, to truffle Parmesan mushrooms on toast, and brown ale sticky toffee pudding. Another new option, this popular Asian-inspired dining concept is led by award-winning chef Lawrence Norman, former sous chef at the Michelin-starred restaurant Hjem. Operating as a pop-up, SOKU will be housed within Assemble, a coffee shop and wine bar located at Old Eldon Square. Specialising in Asian-inspired small plates, from Wednesday to Friday enjoy one snack and two plates for £20, or add a dessert for £25.

Hotel Gotham

For something new in 2026, head to Hotel Gotham’s Siren Restaurant. The menu takes a farm-to-fork approach, offering simple yet elegant dishes in a moody dining space. Tuck into two delicious courses at lunch or dinner from Wednesday to Saturday for only £25, or a two-course Sunday lunch for the same price.
