Where to Do Watersports Across the North East and Yorkshire this Summer

Sailing, surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking or taking a boat trip out to sea - grab your wetsuit and try a watersport this summer

Here's how and where to take to the water.

Berwick Boat Trips 
Hop on board the Border Belle and sail under the Lower Bridges, pass Paxton House and reach the 200-year-old Chain Bridge as you explore the River Tweed, or take an estuary trip to the mouth of the river, or a coastal cruise up to St. Abbs (looking out for wildlife including seabirds, seals and dolphins along the way).

Billy Shiel’s Boat Trips 
Starting in 1918, the Shiel family have a long history with providing exciting boat trips to the Farne Islands. Head off on a two-hour puffin cruise, spot grey seals, or travel across to Holy Island and explore what lies beyond the land. Northside Surf School 
Enjoy the water along the beautiful Northumbrian coastline with this surf and stand-up paddleboarding school in Amble, exploring hidden bays on a coastal tour or a leisurely paddle up and around the castle on the River at Warkworth. South Shields Surf School
As well as SUP and surf lessons, nature lovers will want to try the rock pooling sessions here to explore what the tide has brought in. The school is also involved in several important community projects including Beach Access for free beach wheelchair loan, Sea Company (a veterans’ surf group), Adaptive Surfing (making the surf accessible for everyone) and Project Surf, developing surf courses, therapy and clubs for those with disabilities and special educational needs.
