Role Description
At an exciting time of growth and expansion, Living North is looking to build its advertising sales team. You will work on print and digital advertising opportunities across our titles in the North East, Yorkshire and North West, engaging with decision makers to create and sell advertising packages suitable for each client’s needs. You will be responsible for your own targets and sections, with the opportunity to build uncapped bonus as part of your role. You will also be working with the team to develop our advertising offer and build on Living North’s strong reputation within lifestyle sectors such as Food & Drink, Health & Beauty, Homes & Gardens and The Arts.
This role is a great opportunity for an ambitious person looking to develop skills and progress within commercial and publishing, as part of a leading independent title.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Identifying and developing new business relationships with clients
• Managing and growing relationships with existing clients
• Creating advertising packages from across our print and digital services to meet client needs
• Hitting individual and team targets
• Collaborating with Editorial, Design and Events teams to meet client needs
About You
In the successful candidate we are looking for:
• At least 1 year’s sales experience, ideally within B2B
• Excellent communication skills, both on the phone and in person
• Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
• Experience working to targets
• Accurate research skills and knowledge of the North East, Yorkshire and/or the North West lifestyle landscape is advantageous
• Excellent time management skills
• Confident presentation skills to demonstrate our offering to clients

Salary
Competitive base salary, depending on experience, and uncapped bonus, with regular pay and progression reviews.

Role Description

You will work on our growing and respected events portfolio to increase revenue while enhancing the exhibitor experience through excellent organisational and customer service skills. You will be responsible for reaching sales targets, with the potential to earn generous bonuses based on each event’s success. You will work as part of a wider team to ensure smooth operations and marketing activity across our portfolio, to maintain our excellent reputation.
This role is a great opportunity for an ambitious, commercially-minded person with a keen interest in events to develop and progress as part of our established and leading portfolio.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Identifying and developing new business relationships with potential exhibitors
• Managing relationships with existing exhibitors
• Working as part of a team to manage availability, to reach sales targets and ensure an excellent exhibitor experience
• Develop marketing plans to increase awareness and tickets sales as part of the events strategy
• Advance the team's commercial and client management conversations
The successful candidate will have:
• At least one year’s experience in a commercial role
• Keen understanding of the UK events and exhibition landscape
• Knowledge of marketing and communications strategies
• Excellent communication skills, both on the phone and in person
• Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
• An eye for detail
• Experience working to targets
• Accurate research skills and knowledge of the North East, Yorkshire and/or the North West is advantageous
• Excellent time management skills

Location
Based in Newcastle city centre, with additional hours required, including weekends, during event times.

If you are looking to kick-start your career in publishing/writing, this role could be perfect for you. We need enthusiastic graduates with a strong interest in digital and print lifestyle publishing, and with plenty of initiative to contribute across all platforms and genres, especially driving digital content on a daily basis.
Working alongside our team of editorial, sales and design staff, the successful candidate will have responsibilities in all areas of the editorial process. Researching and writing features, picture selection and assisting our design team in preparing and checking pages for print and our website and social media platforms.
The successful candidate will have:
• Enthusiasm, creativity, initiative and good organisational skills
• A passion for digital features and producing content for social media
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• A meticulous eye for detail
• The ability to manage their own workload while contributing to a team
• The ability to work to tight deadlines and maintain the high quality of our print and digital publications
• Strong IT skills. Use of Mac packages desirable but not essential
• Experience of working/internship within a publishing environment desirable but not essential
Must be educated to degree level. NCTJ qualifications an advantage but not essential.
