A trip to the panto is an essential part of the festive season… Oh yes it is!

To help you get in the Christmas spirit, we’ve picked out the top pantos you’ll want to see across Yorkshire.

Dick Whittington: The Rock ’n’ Roll Panto

On until 8th January
City Varieties Music Hall, Leeds

Panto-classic Dick Whittington has been given the Rock ’n’ Roll treatment and will be rocking the stage at City Varieties Music Hall this Christmas. Be wowed by this breath-taking production which mixes traditional elements of audience participation and corny gags with a jukebox full of classic rock anthems and chart-toppers, all performed live on stage by an ultra-talented cast of actor-musicians.

The Lamproom, Barnsley

This Christmas, head to The Lamproom for their must-see performance of Aladdin. Follow the main man himself, his brother Wishee Washee and his mother Widow Twankey, on a magical adventure in Old Peking. Beauty and the Beast

For a tale as old as time, head to the Princess Alexandra Auditorium this festive season as Tom Rolfe Productions present a real beauty of a pantomime – Beauty and the Beast. With stunning scenery, beautiful costumes and hilarious comedy this is one you won’t want to miss… Oh yes it is! They will also be doing special relaxed performances with the sound a little quieter and no pyrotechnics, when kids will be free to roam and make noise at the ‘wrong time’ without a problem.
