Calling all foodies, here are our top picks coming up this year

Bigger and better than ever, this year you can expect a whole host of Yorkshire food festivals to return.

Whitby Fish & Ships Festival

Whitby Marina, 17th–18th May
An annual event celebrating Whitby’s rich fishing heritage, visitors can expect top tips from local chefs, live music from local bands and cooking demonstrations. In the fish craft marquee, you’ll find local fishermen demonstrating the traditional art of net-mending, as well as showing their skills with a blade on a range of fresh local fish. There’s also a range of local producers to browse.

Malton Food Lovers Festival

Malton, 24th–26th May
Yorkshire’s most hotly anticipated food event of the year, there’s a reason that Malton is known as the food capital of the North. Set across Malton’s picturesque streets, this festival brings together a fabulous array of live chef demos, local producers, street food stalls and family entertainment. Alongside this, visitors can expect live music, author interviews and book signings from their favourite foodie writers, and plenty of drink to wash everything down. Best of all? It’s free to attend!
