Discover Life at Chantry & Yorkshire Dales Retreats

Get a breath of fresh Dales air at these two beautiful countryside parks
It’s hard to explain just how different the world feels here. Within moments of arriving, the noise of everyday life melted away – replaced by birds in the trees, leaves moving gently in the breeze, and the kind of calm only the countryside can offer. And the best part? You can experience it for yourself at one of their relaxed Open Days, running throughout the summer.
Our Open Day Adventures Begin at Chantry Country & Leisure Retreat…
Our first stop was Chantry, a beautifully-kept park tucked beneath Penhill in the heart of the Dales. As we wound our way through the countryside – passing dry stone walls and sleepy sheep – the stress of the week started to ease. The park itself? Immaculate. With manicured lawns, wildflowers in bloom, and holiday homes nestled against the hills, it didn’t take long to see why so many people call this their second home.
After a warm welcome and a proper cup of Yorkshire tea, we began our park tour. If you’ve never stepped inside a modern holiday home or lodge before, you might be surprised. Stylish interiors, cosy finishes, and stunning views from every window make it easy to picture yourself curled up with a book or sipping your morning coffee on the deck as the sun rises over the Dales.

Bringing a four-legged friend? You're in luck – both parks are pet friendly, with plenty of space for wagging tails and scenic walks.
What really stayed with us, though, beyond the views, was the people. These aren’t just holiday parks. They’re warm, welcoming communities, filled with owners who wave hello, recommend their favourite Sunday roast in Leyburn, and always make time for a chat. We even heard about a recent on-park quiz night and an upcoming wine event – just a few of the many owner events that bring the community together.
If you're looking for somewhere that feels like both a retreat and a community hub, this is it.

Onwards to Yorkshire Dales: Wide-Open Space and Big-Sky Views
Next, we made our way to Yorkshire Dales Country & Leisure Retreat, just a short drive away. Where Chantry feels cosy and tucked away, this park is more open and within walking distance of Leyburn.
It’s the kind of place where time slows down. An afternoon walk easily turns into a catch-up with friends, a picnic, or simply sitting on a bench and soaking in the views.
Each holiday home is thoughtfully positioned to make the most of the scenery. And with a 12-month season, it’s easy to picture yourself returning in every kind of weather – from crisp spring mornings to misty autumn evenings.
No trip here is complete without a wander through Leyburn itself. We browsed antiques, popped into the florist (to be told they also have a town market on a Friday), and settled in for lunch at a traditional country pub before heading back to the park for one last look at the holiday homes.
There’s something comforting about knowing that while your retreat may be tucked away in the hills, you’re never far from great food, good company, and everything you might need.
