Discover new places to dine out around the North East

From a fried chicken shop in Newcastle's Grainger Market to a street food and craft beer emporium in North Shields, here are five new and exciting eateries to check out.

Fed's Fried Chicken
Brought to you by the founders of Meat:Stack, Fed’s has found its home in the Grainger Market and The Dog and Parrot serving a selection of the finest welfare, grain-fed chicken rolls, pieces and tenders – all mopped in their house-made sauces. It’s filled a fried-chicken sized hole in the North East food scene, and we’re pretty happy about it.

Fortuna
How does late summer nights on a heated terrace dining on tapas and sipping on Aperol spritz sound? We thought so. Add in Motown and two for £10 cocktails in to the mix and we’re not sure how you can resist Fortuna – Gosforth High Street’s latest tapas and cocktail lounge.

Salt Market Social
Adding to the hustle and bustle of the North Shield’s Fish Quay is an all new event space, housed in a former factory. Salt Market Social is a street food and craft beer emporium – far from your average bar. Taking inspiration from the local area’s industrial heritage and the nostalgia of the factory’s past you can expect a quirky festival feel. Vendors, who will switch up at each of Salt Market’s ‘Socials’, include the likes of local taco experts Lobo Rojo, Med Head with stone-baked pizzas and Hatch 76 with their famed duck fries and wraps. Beers will be on rotation from Wylam Brewery and Allendale amongst many others – making it the perfect place for those looking to explore the ever-growing food and drink scene in the North East.

Haveli
Ponteland's Haveli has made a strong name for itself serving modern food in an elegant and stylish setting and drawing inspiration from across India – think Indian fine dining rather than your average curry. Which is why we're big fans of their second outpost, open now in Jesmond for takeaways. Along with curry classics, innovative signature options include jungle laal maas – a fiery Rajasthani dish traditionally cooked at the end of a day’s hunt. There’s also exciting street food for starters. You won't be disappointed.

Bewick’s Kitchen & Coffee House
Led by local businessman and former Michelin-star chef, Kevin Mulraney, Bewick’s Kitchen & Coffee House is Rothbury's latest coffee shop with a menu of locally-sourced, fresh produce for a truly authentic Northumbrian dining experience. Exploring Northumberland National Park? Make this your pit stop to refuel.
