Tom Marshall (aka Hobo Tom) takes us on a photographic tour through Yorkshire's snowy landscape

He shares his favourite shots of Yorkshire as a winter wonderland.

Growing up in the quiet town of Keighley, Tom has spent his whole life in Yorkshire and has fallen in love with the local scenery and history, capturing it all in breathtaking photography. ‘I never studied photography and didn’t start shooting until I left university,’ he explains.

Working in the snow provides Tom with unique opportunities. ‘It all looks completely different covered in snow,’ says Tom. ‘It can make some of the much visited locations feel like a brand new spot all over again! I tend to like clean images and the snow does a lot of the work for you.’

Tom’s favourite location is the Yorkshire Dales. ‘I have a little route I often take when I’m up early enough or have a free day,’ he says. ‘From home to Malhamdale to take in Janet’s Foss and Gordale Scar. I head up Tarn Road for a snap across the valley of the barn and then up to the Lone Tree, and onto the Tarn.’ The route then takes Tom across to Winskill Stones and on to Ribblehead.

Tom advises beginners to lead with what they care about. ‘Make sure you have an interest in what you’re taking photos of and make sure you’re enjoying it,’ he says.
