This three-storey, five-bedroom family home offers lofty living spaces and fantastic proximity to the North East coast

We take a sneak peek inside this family home.

This three-storey, semi-detached family home is located in the popular seaside town of Whitley Bay, a hub of independent arts venues, great brunch spots and – of course – fantastic beaches.

As you enter the property there are cloakrooms on both sides of the door, creating plenty of space for coats and beach gear.

The property is estimated to have been built around 1900, and retains many of its original Victorian features, with elegant mouldings throughout, including particularly lovely ceilings in the two downstairs lounges. The lounge to the front is a huge room with built-in bookshelves either side of a feature fireplace with a living flame gas fire and granite hearth. A large bay window looks out to the front of the property. Sash windows deliver on period charm but have been updated with double glazing.

The kitchen is large and bright, with a good sized kitchen island/breakfast bar. It adjoins another large room, with the open-plan design making it an ideal space for dining, although it is currently being put to good use as a second lounge. This area has another feature fireplace, and large windows offer views over the garden.

To the other side of the kitchen the property has been extended to create a separate dining room with a skylight and a further set of French doors leading onto the patio. For further convenience, the kitchen also leads onto a small utility room with an additional sink, space for laundry facilities and access to the garage. The ground floor also benefits from a WC.

There are four bedrooms on the first floor: two doubles and two singles, one of which is currently an office. The rooms share the main family bathroom, whilst the second floor comprises one double bedroom and a bathroom. The cosy, attic feel of this room is enhanced by an ornate cast iron fireplace. The occupants of this floor also benefit from generous eaves storage.

To the rear of the house is a landscaped garden with a well maintained lawn, patio and seating areas for al fresco dining.
