Old Wooley Cottage is a Grade II-listed Bastle house just outside the pretty village of Allendale

Packed with character and charm, it offers peaceful rural living while being perfectly placed for exploring the stunning Northumberland landscape, with Isaac's Tea Trail and the Allendale Chimneys right on its doorstep.

The accommodation is set across three floors, and there are gardens to the front and rear with seating areas to take in the surrounding countryside views.

Entering into the kitchen, there is an open aspect to the spacious dining area, which has fitted wall storage, a feature window seat and a multi-fuel stove. In the living room, you’ll find exposed stone, a large inglenook fireplace and traditional stone flooring. A staircase leads down into what is currently a further reception room, again featuring original stone flooring, exposed beams and double doors onto a patio area and garden. There is a useful utility room, off which is a door to the rear garden and a shower room.

On the second floor there are two well-proportioned bedrooms and the main family bathroom, with a beautiful roll top bath, freestanding sink units and walk-in shower.

On the third floor you’ll find the master bedroom, with high ceilings and exposed beams. There is ample space for furnishings and a sliding door into the ensuite.

Outside, there is a front garden (mainly laid to lawn) and a seating area which enjoys the sunsets and evening sun in the warmer months – a perfect place for entertaining and enjoying the peaceful and quaint rural surroundings.

At the back there’s a gated driveway, which could be used as an additional outdoor seating area. There is a lawn further back, perfect for a children’s play area, and some raised beds with lots of established shrubs and flowers.

The village of Allendale is nearby (with a primary school, parks, footpaths, local shops, café, post office and pubs), and there are excellent road links into Hexham and Carlisle.
