At the end of July, CareCo, The UK Discount Mobility Aids Shop, opened its Newcastle showroom

It’s their 18th in the UK, but what can we can expect in store? We caught up with William Harrison, the founder and managing director at CareCo to find out.

Founded in 2009, CareCo is a national British mobility retailer, with shops across England, Scotland and Wales. It employs more than 160 people in 18 locations and ships 3,000 products from its warehouse at its Brentwood HQ each week.

Following lockdown, William is looking to the future of the business. ‘Our goal is to have a mobility shop within easy reach of everybody in the UK,’ he says. 'Mobility retail is a fantastic business to be in and, as our products improve, demand continues to grow.

‘We plan to grow the range of products that we sell under our own name and keep working closely with the major innovators in the mobility industry so that we can bring the best new products to the UK market.’

CareCo is based around an ethos to assist and inform – it works with a dedicated occupational therapist and guarantees the lowest prices in the UK. Expect more than 5,000 fully-tested products, ranging from the latest in high-powered mobility scooters, wheelchairs, furniture and beds right down to exciting new ranges of protective bedding, bathing aids and personal products. But, William advises that these are best explored in store, in a Covid-safe way.

‘The showroom allows customers to try out the equipment for themselves before making a purchasing decision,’ he explains.

‘People often come in planning to purchase one product but soon learn from our experienced shop staff that there are more suitable products available. This is not possible when shopping through mail order or online.’

Explore the Oakdale British-made riser recliner range, as well as bathroom aids, electric beds and many daily living aids. They’ve also just launched new touch screens in stores so customers can see more of the products on offer, which is especially useful for elderly customers who do not use computers or smartphones.

Rated ‘Excellent’ on Trustpilot, customers know the kind of service they can expect in store and CareCo’s mission is to continue to provide products that will improve the quality of life of their customers for years to come.

Appointments are now available to book for the Newcastle mobility showroom.
