Farmer Copleys

With more than 300,000 pumpkins in 40 varieties, Farmer Copley’s patch is a multicoloured spectacle. There’s plenty to do at their Pumpkin Festival aside from picking, including tractor rides, live shows, a daily fancy dress competition, archery, street food and a bar, and their pumpkin nights will have a fantastic musical line-up of live tribute acts. They’re open weekends until 18th October, then every day until Halloween.

Yorkshire Pumpkins

Yorkshire Pumpkins have 53 varieties of pumpkin for picking (including pink, blue and even leopard-print). Stable Pizza Company will be serving wood-fired pizza, and the pumpkin café has everything from pumpkin soup to bat buns. There’s also a huge hay bale mountain for all ages to climb, a rope maize, pumpkin wash and plenty of photo opportunities. They’re open every weekend in October then every day until Halloween, and farmers Rob and David will be on hand to answer any questions.

Sandy Bottom Farm

Sandy Bottom have more than 75,000 pumpkins in 32 varieties to pick from, from the perfectly round to the hideous and warty. They also have a delicious selection of hot food to fuel up on while you’re picking, including Greek street food, stone-baked pizzas, barista coffee and dirty donuts. Your children will love the variety of visitors to the patch including a unicorn, princesses, and real life reptiles to handle with Lion Learners. They also have a maize maze to pick your own corn on the cob, and face painting too. They’re open every weekend in October, plus half term, and have night picking events on Friday 10th and 17th October – popular, so booking is essential.

Spilmans

Spilmans have 175,000 home-grown pumpkins in their fields, and each ticket comes with a £5 voucher to spend on your pumpkin. That’s not all, though – there are also fairground and tractor rides, corn cannons, marshmallow toasting and a new live show, Spilmans Got Talent: Spooky Spectacular. There’s also a popular spooky walk, and a fancy dress Halloween disco. They’re open at weekends, then every day from the 15th until Halloween.

Stockeld Park

Find thousands of pumpkins ripe for the picking in Stockeld Park’s meadow this autumn, with every Halloween adventure ticket including access to the patch and a tractor ride. While there, explore the Monster Maze, tangle tree climb and Woodland Witches Trail in the Enchanted Forest, plus their indoor playground, Playhive. They’re open every October weekend, then daily from the 25th until 2nd November.

Grab a wheelbarrow and search the three fields of pumpkins to find your gorgeous gourd in orange, blue, green, pink, white or multicolours at Birchfield Farm. The café will be serving take-out food and drinks, and entrance to the patch is free – you just pay for what you pick. They’re open weekends from 27th September until 25th October then everyday until Halloween.

Castle Howard

Castle Howard’s Garden Centre Pumpkin Patch is back: with various sizes and colours for carving and cooking, pumpkin prices vary depending on size. The patch is open from the 29th September, and whilst you’re there make sure to check out the Pesky Pumpkin Trail and find the mischievous pumpkins hiding around the house which is open throughout October until Halloween.

Cannon Hall Farm

Cannon Hall is home to 10,000 pumpkins and there are expert carvers on hand to jazz up your jack’o’lanterns. Children who have a paid ticket are entitled to one free pumpkin, whatever the size, and visitors are encouraged to wear fancy dress (prizes will be awarded for best costumes). Try the spooky Halloween pumpkin ride (a 360-degree train ride with VR headset) for a fun fright. Head down at the weekend from 4th October, and on selected dates until Halloween.

Brand-new for 2025, Piglets Adventure Farm has a host of seasonal fun. Every ticket includes entry to Farmer Ed’s Pumpkin Patch where every child receives a voucher for a small pumpkin. Take your pick from the patch and put your skills to the test with carving onsite in the undercover marquee. With build-your-own teddy workshops, York’s gruesome ghost trail and the new Halloween disco, make sure to book to avoid disappointment. Open weekends from 11th October until the 25th, then daily until the 31st.

The Pumpkin Patch

At The Pumpkin Patch, find more than 45 varieties of pumpkins, gourds and squashes. Visitors can meet Peter Pumpkin as well as pygmy goats, and are challenged to find the golden pumpkin in the fields. They also offer pumpkin carving on-site to save the mess at home. Pick your own pumpkin opportunities are available at weekends throughout October, but the farm shop is open daily, with plenty of pumpkins to buy.

New for 2025 is Woof Wednesdays, special pumpkin sessions for your four-legged friends meaning the whole family can enjoy the seasonal fun. At this outdoor patch you can carve your pumpkin, or take it home to do. There’s also face painting, small animal petting sessions and the chance to win a prize if you find all the ghouls on the farm (don’t miss the spooky castle maze and barrel rides). Pontac Pumpkins

This pumpkin event is an educational experience, depicting the growing process in the marquee area. A resident farmer is on-hand to answer any questions and share his knowledge. Visit the straw bale selfie station, find the perfect pumpkin, and take in the beautiful surroundings.
