Discovery Museum's Discovery Nights are back!
Discovery Nights: Unplugged, the third after-hours event (especially for adults) will take place on Friday 18th July, and we’re offering five lucky Living North readers the chance to win a pair of tickets.
Discovery Nights are a highlight of the Steam to Green: A North East Energy Revolution events programme. Steam to Green is Discovery Museum's award-winning two-year programme exploring the story of energy past, present and future in North East England. The theme for Discovery Nights: Unplugged is encouraging a digital detox, inviting visitors to the Newcastle museum to take part in mindful activities throughout the gallery spaces.
With a bar, relaxing music and a host of non-digital activities on offer, visitors can enjoy book swaps, retro board games and can go behind-the-scenes with Tyne & Wear Archives exploring new acquisitions, or take part in self-led sketching sessions, drawing selected objects from the museum’s extensive costume stores.
There’ll be quick pub-style quizzes with prizes, hosted by stand-up comedian Si Beckwith, embroidery taster sessions with Richard Bliss, and mindful crafting led by Nature Makers using locally-collected sea glass. Plus, Amateur Ancestor, Justine Boussard, will share a short story of the journey through time and place of a tiny seed.

Any questions relating to the event should be directed to Discovery Museum via info@discoverymuseum.org.uk. Please note that prizes are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash, and entrants must be aged 18 or over. If an event is cancelled, postponed, or significant changes are made that organisers feel will decline the quality of the event; an offer of an alternative prize in the form of tickets to another venue, or product merchandise to the value of the ticket, will be offered. A member of the team will be in touch to offer the options with a deadline for responding. This email will be sent to the email address you have supplied the competition. Alternatives will not be given after the deadline offered has expired.
